15. July. 2011 Arrival in Bangkok
with Jake
From 15. July 2011 to 31. July 2011
I backpacked in Bangkok with Jake,
who is my husband.
Early in the morning,
we left for Kimhae airport
to start our backpacking.
Travel always makes my heart pound.
At that time,
to travel for more than 15 days,
Jake and I resigned our jobs.
We flew in Thai airline.
I remembered the flight attendants wore their traditional costumes.
It was beautiful.
It was our flight meal.
I ordered chicken.
But I had felt sick from a few days ago,
I couldn't eat it up.
I packed the red pepper tube, Kimchi and Gim, dried seaweed.
Later, I well-used the red pepper paste.
They served us some snack.
It was not that bad.
But I still felt sick.
Later, I realized why I had felt sick.
You can read the reason from later posting.
In the airport,
there were a lot of ornaments.
These were golden and very luxurious.
It was taken from backlight
so I took it again when I went back to Korea.
We took a taxi from the airport
and arrived on Khaosan road,
which is the street of backpackers.
Because I had felt sicker then,
we got a room first in Khaosan road.
I forgot the name of the inn.
On the ceiling, there was a big fan.
We got a room which has an air-conditioner.
During backpacking,
we always got a room
which has an air-conditioner and offers hot shower.
The door was very old style though,
I liked it
because I felt it said to me that this place is different from the one
that I had belonged to.
Oh, my god.
I didn't turn this photo up.
Anyway, it was a bathroom.
Getting out of the place,
we bought a bottle of water from 7/11, the convenience store.
At first time,
I had trouble communicating with the clerk.
I couldn't get his English pronunciation.
Later, I was used to it though.
We sat one of the restaurants on Khaosan road,
we ordered a noodle and fried rice.
Jake really liked Thai rice noodles.
It was the fried rice.
I ate some.
But I felt still sick.
We visited a tour agency in Khaosan,
bought night bus tickets for Chiang Mai
and booked tracking in Chiang Mai.
Getting out of the agency, We wandered from alley to alley.
Sometimes we could see a kind of an altar,
and see some people
who were training Muay Thai, Thai traditional martial art.
We bought and ate some spring rolls on the street.
and bought some phat thai from street vendor.
This phat thai was not that delicious.
It wasn't our taste.
We drank orange juice.
It was very good.
We liked it a lot.
Up to returning day, we used to visit a cafe and drink an orange juice.
I have two things that I missed.
One of them is that I didn't try these grilled skewers,
and the other is that I didn't try dreadlocks style.
On Khaosan road,
there were a lot of street hair designers
who do dreadlocks style.
Also, it was cheaper than doing in Korea.
Next day,
we planned to visit some temples, a museum and a castle in Bangkok
and go to Chiang Mai.
Looking back again, this backpacking was the memory
which I would never get.
